The Hooting Owl Guest House is a unique African Thatch Bush-Veld Lodge set in a coastal environment. This hidden jewel was custom-built to blend harmoniously into its surroundings. The Hooting Owl is located in Marina Beach, on the KwaZulu Natal South Coast, also know as the "Golf Coast", approximately two hours drive south from Durban’s King Shaka International Airport. Marina Beach, is often referred to as "The Honolulu of the South Coast". The guesthouse is set in a sub-tropical forest with valley views and prolific bird life. We provide the visitor with good quality, affordable self-catering accommodation.  We welcome all race groups, cultures and sexual orientation. The guesthouse can also be booked as a clothing optional retreat for naturist groups by special arrangement. For complete peace, quiet and privacy, with valley views over the sub-tropical forest conservation area. Numerous bird species, vervet monkeys, grey and blue dyker and small bush buck inhabit the surrounding areas.

With the choice of a large six sleeper family unit which has three double en-suite rooms, a three bedroom eight sleeper self catering  cottage or our self catering honeymoon cottage, we offer a range of accommodation to suite all tastes.

There is plenty of safe parking inside the premises. Guests will receive a remote for easy access through the electric security gate during their stay. All guest areas are covered by an in-house alarm system linked to Chubb Armed Response.

Facilities:
There is safe parking inside the perimeter of the premises for up to eight vehicles.  Guests will receive a remote control for the gate to gain easy access during their stay. All guest areas are covered by an in-house alarm system linked to Chubb Armed Response.
A starter pack of a few toilet rolls will be provided. The guests are responsible for maintaining their own supplies. No other toiletries or guest amenities will be supplied.
Payments can be made by EFT, direct deposit, bank linked credit card transfer or PayPal. Credit card payment facilities are no longer available.

Approximately 1km from the Blue Flag Marina/San Lameer beach, one of the best beaches on the South Coast.

Activities and Places of Local Interest:
The eleven golf courses found on the “Golf Coast makes us ideally situated as a home base for the ardent golf enthusiast. These include Southbroom and San Lameer, which are a five minute drive away and The Wild Coast and Selborne, within twenty to forty-five minutes drive from the guesthouse,

When the weather is good there are the five blue flag beaches to choose from, Marina Beach/San Lameer being the closest and most attractive in my opinion. When the weather is bad there is also plenty to do, including horse riding, quad biking, bird watching, game drives, adventure tours, cultural tours, fishing, whale watching, diving, fine dining, spa treatments, shopping, etc. All activities can be booked in advance or as the fancy takes you.
